mproving conservation work and developing biodiversity resources, forest ecosystems in the Natural Reserve Area associated with improving sustainable livelihoods for the buffer zone community. From 2021 to 2023, the Management Board of Dong Chau-Khe Nuoc Trong Nature Reserve researched the model of planting medicinal trees under the forest canopy. Indigenous tea species in general and specifically yellow flower tea are precious medicinal plants with high economic value, having many benefits such as timber harvesting, ornamental tree cultivation, and premium tea production. They are useful in preventing and treating hypertension, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and tumors.
The stable growth and development of yellow flower tea species in Dong Chau-Khe Nuoc Trong Nature Reserve will have a significant scientific meaning in conserving endemic and rare tea species in Vietnam, laying the foundation for research on functional foods and pharmaceuticals from tea. The completed model will contribute to the construction of the ecological landscape, creating a highlight for tourism in Dong Chau-Khe Nuoc Trong Nature Reserve in the future. Looking to 2030, it is expected to continue scientific research, pilot livelihood models, and transfer to people at buffer zone locations, including:
- Model 1. Develop community tourism models in villages in the buffer zone.
- Model 2. Support plant breeds, livestock to improve the livelihoods of ethnic minorities.
- Model 3. Research, develop, propagate non-timber forestry crops, medicinal plants originating from natural forests to serve market needs and gradually improve the livelihoods of people in buffer zone villages.
- Model 4. Research, experiment with the model of planting medicinal plants under the canopy of acacia forests.
- Model 5. Research, restore endangered plant and animal species in the nature reserve.
